The Department of Biology appreciates your interest in our program. We have several international graduate and postdoctoral students in our program. The University of Oregon has a high number of international students and a lively International Student Union.
International students must be able to read English with ease, understand rapid idiomatic English as used in lectures and group discussion, and express thoughts quickly and clearly in spoken and written English. Admission is offered only to students who are fully prepared in English or show advanced intermediate proficiency in English. We have minimum English proficiency score requirements. To apply, you must receive at least 105 on the TOEFL iBT or 7.5 on the IELTS.
To be admitted to the Graduate School for the purpose of seeking an advanced degree or certificate you must have at least a four-year degree equivalent to a U.S. Bachelors Degree from an institution of recognized standing. Official transcripts with certified English translations of all college or university work are required.
Your application will be greatly strengthened if you have access to your own funding source. Please include any information about such funding in your application. Our training grants do not cover international students.
Please see the Office of International Programs online information for Prospective (International) Graduate Students.
Please be aware that our office does not mail materials overseas. Application forms and instructions for applying to our graduate program are available on the “How to Apply” webpage.
