CURRENT MEMBERS & VISITORS

James Meadow
James Meadow

James has a PhD from Montana State University, and is a postdoctoral researcher with a background in soil ecology and multivariate community analysis. He is interested in understanding the drivers behind microbial dispersal and community heterogeneity, as well as developing new ways to visualize and communicate results from complex data. CV

Adam Altrichter
Adam Altrichter

Adam has a M.S. in Biology from Virginia Tech and is a Research Assistant with experience using molecular methods to assess microbial communities in soil and built environments. He is broadly interested in host-associated microbial communities and especially in human-building microbial exchange processes. CV

Liz Perry
Elizabeth Perry

Liz is a PhD student co-advised by Brendan Bohannan. She has a B.A. and M.A. in biology from Wesleyan University where she worked with Fred Cohan studying species concepts and speciation in Bacillus subtilis. She is interested in the interplay between ecological and evolutionary dynamics in microbial communities.

Ann Womack
Ann Womack

Ann is a PhD student with a background in microbiology molecular biology. She is interested in the distribution of microbial biodiversity on Earth with a focus on the atmosphere as a dispersal medium and microbial habitat as well as its role in shaping biogeographic patterns on land and in water.

Holly Arnold
Holly Arnold

Holly is a PhD student co-advised by John Conery in the Computer Science Department. She has a B.A. in biochemistry and molecular biology. She is interested in using probabilistic graphical models to mine potential host - microbe associations from high-throughput sequencing data.

Ashley Bateman
Ashley Bateman

Ashley is a PhD student co-advised by Brendan Bohannan. She is interested in the community ecology of host-associated microbial communities and is currently working on elucidating the forces of selection and dispersal that help to shape the variation of microbial communities of the skin.
