Quantitiative Sytems Biology graduate student. Jessica recently finished an undergraduate degree from UC Santa Cruz where she studied both molecular biology and ecology. At UCSC's Howard Hughes Undergraduate Research Lab she worked with microarrays to develop methods of measuring alternative splicing events in tissue culture. She also worked with Dr. Gary King at the University of Maine exploring the expression of CO dehydrogenase in bacteria. In the Green lab Jessica is using molecular tools such as PCR amplification, cloning and sequencing of 16S rDNA and TRFLP to characterize the structure of soil microbial communities in alpine environments.
