The Biology Honors Program
An honors degree in biology will require laboratory work that is supervised by a faculty member. To qualify for the Honors Program, students must meet the following requirements :
Completion of all requirements for the major in biology ;
A minimum GPA of 3.3 in all biology courses applied to the major;
All biology courses used to satisfy biology requirements must be taken for letter grades;
Registration for the honors program (through the Biology Advising Office), including an acceptance signature of the faculty research adviser, before research begins;
A minimum of 9 credits over three consecutive terms of research;
Completion of a thesis, based on laboratory or library research, that is approved by the Biology Honors Committee and the faculty adviser;
A public defense of the thesis.
Refer to Faculty Research Interests to find a laboratory that is compatible with your goals. It is then your responsibility to find a professor who will sponsor you.
Email Eric Selker or Nathan Tublitz for more information. Come to the Biology Advising Center to register for honors once you have spoken with one of them.
