The University of Oregon (UO) Research Experiences for Undergraduates Summer Program in Molecular Biosciences (UO-REU) offers fellowship opportunities for undergraduate students from other Universities and Colleges to participate in ongoing research in Life Sciences laboratories at UO during the Summer months.

 Program Dates

Early June to mid-August.
Most UO-REU Interns will begin the first monday in June and stay through the 3rd week in August; however, we allow a great deal of variation in the participation dates.  We keep the participation dates flexible for each scholar, to accommodate the variety of schedules of schools across the country.  More about program dates in FAQs.

Research Areas include:

molecular evolution, developmental biology, genomics, structural biology & biophysics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, molecular genetics, cell biology, computational biology, biochemistrymolecular neurobiology

  UO-REU Fellows receive:
Stipend $360/wk for average of 10 weeks
Round-trip travel (from home)  
Room and board while participating in the program
Summer Pass to the UO Student Recreation Center


Prerequisites

All applicants should

• Have completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework by summer
• Be undergraduates in good standing 
• Be strongly motivated to participate in ongoing research projects 
• Be US citizens or permanent residents

PLEASE NOTE: Special consideration is given to qualified students who are also members of a group under-represented in the sciences (e.g., low income and first generation, Native American, African American, Latino, or Pacific Islander) and students with limited access to reseach opportunities.

 DEADLINES for Applying to UO-REU:
There is not a hard deadline.
We will begin making offers of admission to UO-REU the last monday in February, and we will continue to review applications until all slots are filled. Please note that space is very limited.
